‘She was depressed, I wanted to make her happy’, Iyanya speaks on lady he met at Davido’s concert

  Nigerian singer, Iyanya, has revealed that he went on a date with a lady he met at Davido’s ‘Timeless’ concert in Lagos State, because she was depressed and he wanted to make her happy. The singer made this known via his Twitter page on Tuesday. Iyanya had shared a post via his Twitter page searching for a lady that was making eye contact with him during the Davido’s concert in Lagos. He said after announcing on social media that he would like to meet her, he also tasked his team to find her. The Kukere crooner said when she reached out, his team found out during their conversation that she has been depressed and only came for Davido’s concert as a way to make herself happy.    The gates to public primary and secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State will be thrown open today, exactly one week after aggrieved teachers under the aegis of the State branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), called out its members on strike in protest over sundry issues bothering on their welfare. This is sequel to resolutions reached by state government with the leadership of the NUT, at the end of a closed-door meeting held Sunday night and presided over by governor Udom Emmanuel at the Government House, Uyo, LEADERSHIP learnt yesterday.   Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, a.k.a Portable, has taken to the direct message, DM, of the famous Nigerian Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, professionally known by his stage name Davido to beg for a feature in his song. Recall that Portable has in the past asked Wizkid and Burna Boy to offer him a verse. After the previous pleadings with Wizkid and Burna Boy that yielded no positive response, Portable again took to Instagram to beg Davido for just one verse. Sharing a video of him pleading with Davido to give him a chance as he already has a chorus prepared, Portable also shared a screenshot accompanied by voice notes from their conversation. The self-acclaimed ‘Wahala Musician’ wrote: “@davido Ogun Owo Music industry Carry Me Trabaye Bless me with one verse. “Who Go Help You No Go Stress You. I Gat Chorus ZAZUU IKA OF AFRICA. Akwa Ibom: Police arrest 126 criminal suspects in first quarter 2023

   The Akwa Ibom State Police Command says it has arrested a total of 126 suspects who allegedly engaged in various crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, vandalism, murder and rape in the first quarter of 2023. Parading some of the suspects on Saturday during a press conference at the Command headquarters in Ikot Akpanabia Uyo, the Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi explained that the synergy between the police and other sister agencies helped the police to record the feat. Durosinmi also paraded about four suspects who kidnapped a retired permanent secretary in the state, Mr. Ignatius Brown of Abak Local Government Area and demanded a ransom of N80 million having seen what was in his bank account through his handset. In the video, Adekunle Gold was spotted performing for his fans when the female dancer decided to make a romantic move. She moved closer to the singer and threw her backside to him on stage, an action which Adekunle Gold wasn’t pleased with.   Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has said that he sings in Yoruba because music transcends language barriers. The 28-year-old singer made this known in a recent interview with ABC News. He said the lyrics to music sometimes don’t need to be understood. Asake sings predominantly in Yoruba and Pidgin, blending Fuji and Amapiano to achieve his style of afrofusion. When asked why he retains Yoruba as the language of his songwriting, He said, “Yoruba is so important to me and there are a lot of people that understand it. And to me, the way I understand music is like it’s a feeling. Sometimes you don’t even need to understand it.” Asake also discussed the importance of connecting with the audience during his live performances. Russian Army evacuating more than 200 people from Sudan

Russia’s armed forces said on Tuesday they were evacuating more than 200 people from Sudan on four military transport planes. The defence ministry said in a statement the evacuees included diplomats, military personnel and other Russian nationals as well as citizens of “countries of the former Soviet Union and other friendly countries who asked for help”.   

Obasanjo to commission 23.4km Akwa Ibom road project today 02 MAY 2023

  All is set for the commissioning of 23.4km Eket Etinan Road, which was constructed by Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration.   The inauguration of the road is scheduled to hold today, and will be graced by the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, as the special guest of honour. At the time of filing this report, preparation for the commissioning of the road is on top gear, as everything seems to be in place to ensure a successful inauguration ceremony. The Special Assistant to the governor on Research and Documentation, Essien Ndueso, who led a team of journalists on a visit to the new road, said everything is in place for the commissioning of the dual carriageway, constructed by China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC). He said the new road is the fulfillment of Udom’s promise to ensure a dual carriageway from the state capital to the Atlantic Ocean, adding that the new road is a continuation of the 20km Uyo- Etinan Road that is a
