10 pastors arrested in Akwa Ibom

Mikel Arteta says it took him "three or four days" to start feeling better after contracting coronavirus Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he has fully recovered from coronavirus. Spaniard Arteta, 37, became the first Premier League manager to test positive for the virus on 12 March. He had reported feeling unwell after it was confirmed Evangelos Marinakis - the owner of Greek side Olympiakos, who played Arsenal in the Europa League in February - had coronavirus on 10 March. ASUU Commences Indefinite Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has declared an indefinite strike beginning from Monday March 23rd. The union's president, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, who announced this at a press conference at its National Secretariat Abuja, said the strike is over the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System and the non-implementation of the 2009 agreement. He noted that the government failed to address the issues raised. Recall that ASUU had on Monday, March 9, 2020, declared a two-week warning strike.

Coronavirus: FG orders closure of all tertiary institutions, secondary, primary schools nationwide

• Education Minister Adamu The Federal Ministry of Education has ordered immediate closure of tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools nationwide following the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country and as part of measures to contain the spread. This was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Sonny Echono. According to a communiqué on Thursday, Mr. Echono who gave the order on behalf of the Education Minister, Adamu Adamu, also noted that all 104 Unity Schools in the country should close on or before the 26th of March, 2020 as a proactive step aimed at preventing the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus. The Minister asked all the Principals of the Unity Colleges to fast-track the ongoing second term examinations and close shop until further notice. “We have directed all higher institutions to close this weekend. IPPIS: ASUU threatens indefinite action after warning strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has  threatened to go on an  indefinite strike if  the Federal Government  continues to insist   that   lecturers must enrol  for  the  Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System.  The union also wants the FG to honour  its   agreements with them. ASUU Coordinator,  Lagos Zone, Prof. Olusiji Sowande,   said this   while addressing  reporters  at the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun,  Ogun State, on Tuesday. He  said they might opt for  a complete strike after the two-week warning strike to press the FG to yield to their demands. Sowande said   the warning strike was to call the attention of  the government to the outstanding issues in  the 2009 ASUU-FGN Agreement, MoU/MoAs of 2013, 2017 and 2019. The federal government has issued a ban on entry into Nigeria on the United States of America, the United Kingdom and eleven other countries. Announcing the ban on entry to journalists in his office on Wednesday, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, also said those who arrived into the country in the last 15 days from the 13 countries, would be subjected to supervised 14 days self-isolation. Mustapha, who was accompanied by the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehinare, explained that the ban on the 13 countries became necessary because of their high-risk status in terms of the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. He said the ban on the 13 countries would take effect from Saturday, March 21, 2020, adding that the Visa-on-Arrival policy had been temporarily suspended. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the proposal “got a lot of support by the member states. It’s up to them now to implement. It was a thriller,  The Eyes of Darkness, written by Dean Koontz . Looks like it is not the only piece of fiction that predicted the coronavirus outbreak. A book titled End of Days: Predictions and Prophecies about the End of the World, written by Sylvia Browne, also predicted the global outbreak of coronavirus. The book was first published in 2008.
