Akwa Ibom begins $10m real estate project in Atlanta

The Akwa Ibom State government has commenced investment in the real estate sector in Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America with a $10 million project.

Governor Udom Emmanuel, who made this known while undertaking the ground-breaking ceremony of the project known as Akwa Ibom House in Atlanta, said the project was in partnership with the Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria (USA) Atlanta chapter.

According to the governor, the money given by the state government is an investment (which has acquired 23 percent equity of the investment) and not a donation.
He expressed optimism that the project would yield benefits and become a veritable source of external financial inflow to the state government.

Ini Emembong, commissioner for information and strategy who disclosed on his Facebook also quoted Michael Asuquo, the national secretary of AKISAN and the project manager of the Akwa Ibom House Project, as saying, “It is a $10 million project, which will earn revenue to all the investors. ”

He said the location of the project was significant being sited less than 15 minutes from the busiest airport in the US, the Hartsfield Jackson Airport, Atlanta.

Itoro Akpaniquot, the national president of AKISAN, thanked Governor Emmanuel for his continuous support for the organisation, assuring that it will continue to support the government in various ways like medical outreaches, scholarship awards and empowerment programmes.
Emmanuel was accompanied to the event by the governor-elect, Umo Eno, among others.
