  Seun Kuti, the embattled Afrobeat singer and son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti is being remanded at the State Criminal, Investigations and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos on the orders of Yaba Chief Magistrate Court for assaulting a police officer has been crowned the ‘General Overseer’ of his cell by the inmates.  A copy of the Holy Bible was said to have been handed over to him as an instrument of his office. His appointment as the GO was however not without some drama after the inmates initially rejected him.   Fela Kuti’s 1976 album,  Ikoyi Blindness , featured a track documenting an encounter within Nigerian social context where violence is trite.  The song,  Gba mi leti ki n dolowo  (slap me make I get money), is an encounter between an “Oga,” the quintessential big man who personifies the impunity of power, and an unnamed person who represents the disempowered masses. In the song, Oga reaches out to slap the Unnamed’s face. Rather than quake before Oga’s almighty power, Unnamed stands up to him.  He taunts Oga to hit him saying the “systems of government in Africa” would arise on his behalf and he would ultimately become rich.   Afrobeat singer Davido has revealed the amount of money he now charges for a feature. The Timeless musician made the revelation in a viral video of his recent interview on social media. Davido said instead of featuring foreign artists for free, he is now charging them $100k (N46m). “Nigga, I am charging now. Yeah, I am charging now. I am sending my lawyers.   The bridge linking Asaba, Delta State capital through Ughelli to Warri, Bayelsa and Rivers States, has collapsed.   The Ubuh bridge, which is located on the road linking Owashi-Uku, Aniocha South local government area to Kwale, Aboh, Ughelli, Sapele and Warri, all within Delta State, caved in on Monday.
